Bogotá rapper Penyair is bringing his Desde Abajo Tour across Colombia after completing an international run through Europe, taking his latest project to audiences in nine cities and reinforcing his position as one of the country’s prominent independent hip-hop voices.
The national tour features more than 20 shows and includes stops in Bucaramanga, Neiva, Pasto, Cali, Tunja, Cúcuta, Ibagué, Villavicencio and Bogotá. The run began with a free performance at Bogotá’s Parque de los Hippies before expanding internationally and returning to Colombia.
Penyair’s Colombian dates began with a August 15 performance at Teatro Santander in Bucaramanga. The remaining dates continue through September, October and November, eventually bringing the tour back to Bogotá for its final shows.
From Bogotá to the Rest of Colombia
The Desde Abajo tour reflects Penyair’s connection to Bogotá while showing how his audience has expanded beyond the capital.
The rapper has built his identity around personal storytelling and a distinctly Colombian hip-hop perspective. His latest album, Desde Abajo, draws from different stages of his life and career, giving the tour a personal foundation rather than presenting it simply as a promotional concert run.
That connection to his roots is also reflected in how the tour began.
Before heading overseas, Penyair performed a free show at Parque de los Hippies in Bogotá. The project subsequently traveled to Europe, including performances in Paris and Berlin in July, before returning to Colombia for the national leg.
Now, instead of keeping the campaign centered on Bogotá, Penyair is taking the music to audiences throughout the country.
Nine Cities, One Colombian Rap Journey
The tour’s itinerary stretches across several regions of Colombia.
Following the opening Bucaramanga show, Penyair is scheduled to perform in Neiva on September 5, Pasto on September 11 and Cali on September 13. October brings dates in Tunja, Cúcuta and Ibagué, while Villavicencio is scheduled for November before the tour concludes in Bogotá.
The geographic reach is significant for an independent rapper.
Colombia’s music industry has become internationally associated with reggaeton and urbano stars, but the country’s hip-hop scene continues to operate across cities and local communities. A national rap tour of this scale demonstrates the demand that exists for artists working outside the biggest commercial lanes.
Bogotá Dates Sell Out
The strongest indication of the tour’s momentum has come from Bogotá.
Penyair’s first Bogotá performance at Teatro Jorge Eliécer Gaitán, scheduled for November 22, sold out. A second date was subsequently added for November 29.
The additional date gives the tour a fitting conclusion in Penyair’s hometown.
It also demonstrates the strength of his local following after the artist spent much of his career developing within Bogotá’s rap community.
Rather than relying on a single major festival appearance, Penyair is building a touring model around his own catalog and his relationship with listeners.
Keeping Colombian Rap in Focus
Penyair’s current run arrives during a busy month for Colombian hip-hop.
Earlier in August, Hip Hop en la Cuarta attracted nearly 5,000 people in Bogotá, bringing together rap, freestyle, breaking and graffiti. Other urban events across the capital have also highlighted the continuing appetite for hip-hop and related culture.
Penyair’s tour adds another dimension to that activity.
Where large festivals showcase multiple artists and elements of hip-hop culture, Desde Abajo puts one Colombian rapper and his story at the center of the experience.
That makes the tour an important moment for the country’s independent rap ecosystem.
More Than a Concert Tour
The Desde Abajo Tour is ultimately about taking Penyair’s story back to the communities that helped shape it.
The album’s personal themes provide the foundation, while the national tour allows those stories to travel from Bogotá to cities across Colombia. After beginning with a free hometown performance, crossing the Atlantic and returning for a nationwide run, the project has developed into one of Penyair’s most ambitious touring cycles.
The official ticketing schedule currently lists the tour continuing through November, with the final Bogotá performance scheduled for November 29.
For Colombian hip-hop, that journey is significant.
Penyair is showing that a rap project rooted in personal experience and Bogotá culture can move beyond the capital, reach audiences across the country and generate enough demand to add another hometown show.
As Colombian urbano continues to dominate the international spotlight, Desde Abajo offers a reminder that the country’s rap movement has its own audience, its own stories and its own artists capable of carrying that culture far beyond Bogotá.
